  32. The WW1116 disk included with this Application Note contains an
  33. updated version of OLE for use with Microsoft Windows for Workgroups
  34. and Microsoft Windows versions 3.1 and 3.11. OLE 2.02 includes the
  35. following improvements:
  36.  
  37.  - Removes the 20-user limit on read-only files read over networks
  38.     
  39.    Applications Affected

  41.    Microsoft Word for Windows, versions 2.x and 6.0
  42.  
  43.  - Removes some incompatibilities between OLE applications and
  44.    network operating systems, such as DEC(R) PATHWORKS(R) and
  45.    UNIX(R)

  51.  - Corrects a general protection (GP) fault that occurs when you use

  64. Installing the Updated Files
  65. ----------------------------
  66.  
  67. The WW1116 disk included with this Application Note contains
  68. OLE202.EXE, a compressed file that includes a setup program that
  69. installs the OLE 2.02 library files in your Windows SYSTEM
  70. subdirectory. Use the following steps to install OLE 2.02:
  71.  
  72. 1. Run Windows File Manager.
  73.  
  74. 2. Select a drive on which you can temporarily store the OLE 2.02
  75.    library files. This drive must have at least 2 megabytes of
  76.    available disk space.
  77.  
  78. 3. From the File menu, choose Create Directory. Type a name for the
  79.    temporary directory you are creating. For example, type "tempdisk,"
  80.    (without the quotation marks).
  81.  
  82. 4. Insert the WW1116 disk included with this Application Note in the
  83.    appropriate floppy disk drive, and copy OLE202.EXE from the WW1116
  84.    disk to the newly created directory.
  85.  
  86. 5. Select the newly created directory and double-click OLE202.EXE.
  87.  
  88.     NOTE: For information about how to perform these steps, refer to
  89.     Windows Help or your printed Windows documentation.

  123. 6. Press the F5 key to update the File Manager display.
  124.  
  125. 7. Double-click the LICENSE.TXT file to open it in Windows Notepad,
  126.    and then choose Word Wrap from the Edit menu. Review the licensing
  127.    agreement, then exit Notepad and return to File Manager.
  128.  
  129. 8. Double-click SETUP.EXE.
  130.  
  131.    The OLE 2.02 library files are now installed on your system. Refer
  132.    to the "Filename in Windows SYSTEM subdirectory" column in the
  133.    table above to see the expanded filenames and sizes.
  134.  
  135. 9. Delete the temporary directory you created in step 3 and all the
  136.    files contained in it.
